Are Ford EcoBoost engines any good?

Can I have your opinion on the three-cylinder turbo engine that Ford fit into its Focus range? I was told by a AA patrol man that these engines are good but not built to last. Would I be better off with a 1.6 engine?

Ford had trouble with the 1.0 litre three-cylinder belt cam EcoBoost because the degas pipe carrying superheated steam from the turbo to the coolant expansion tank could fail and run the engine dry of coolant. But lessons were learned and the new 1.5 three-cylinder chain cam EcoBoost should be much better.
