What is the best dash cam?

That's very dependent on your budget. A £200 dash cam that films in 4k resolution and offers features like GPS, WiFi, safety camera warnings etc will be better than a £15 dash cam that films in 720p - but something in the middle of those two options is what most people go for because there are plenty of budget-friendly models that will do the job. If you want the best of the best, then the Nextbase 612GW (for £235) is definitely up there. Review here: kit.honestjohn.co.uk/reviews/nextbase-612gw-elite-.../

At just under £100, the Z-Edge Z3 is also very good (kit.honestjohn.co.uk/reviews/review-z-edge-z3-plus.../). Though £40 is a normal price to pay for a dash cam that offers decent footage and some useful features. You can obviously pay much less, but usually these cams won't offer good enough footage to even read a number plate when you actually need to watch it back. With that in mind, The YI Smart is a very good dash cam for about £45 (kit.honestjohn.co.uk/reviews/review-yi-smart-dash-.../). The YI offers 1296p @ 30fps footage and WiFi, so you can review/edit/download the footage on your phone. Though it doesn't offer GPS, so it won't be able to map your journey or show your speed - if you want that feature then you'll need to look elsewhere. It also offers lane departure warning and a forward collision warning - though these don't work as well as more expensive dash cameras.

You can take a look at all our dash cam reviews here though: kit.honestjohn.co.uk/category/dash-cams/
