2006 Second Hand VW Polo Automatic- 39000 miles on clock

My son and his partner are expecting a baby in 3 weeks time. They have realised that the 10 year old 3 door Golf they currently have will not be practical enough. Volkswagen Polo automatic 2006 reg with 39,000 miles on the clock will set us back 5,995 (6k) and has isofix fittings. I was wondering if you had any views from experience on this?

Lousy cars. Lousy 1.4 engine prone to failure. Rust prone. Do not deserve VW's reputation.
