What would you suggest as a good first car for our fashion-conscious daughter?
I am looking for a safe, insurable but fun first car for a fashion-conscious daughter. We live in the Yorkshire Hills and she will need to be doing rural and motorway driving in all elements. We have been thinking Polo, MINI or the new Micra. Our budget is around £10k.

We'd avoid a MINI - we've had various reports of issues with the latest Hatch (www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar/mini/hatch-f56-2014/). A Volkswagen Polo would be a fine choice, but don't reject in-house alternatives such as the Skoda Fabia and SEAT Ibiza. The latest Micra is also a good choice. Have you considered a Ford Fiesta? They're very popular but for good reason.
