Not fade away

My wife has just purchased a new Ford Fiesta in red coloured non-metallic paint (after waiting an incredible 18 weeks for delivery). The dealer offered a paint protection system. How effective is this and will it guard against, or at least significantly reduce, the usual fade problems with red paint? Is there an alternative to the Ford product either professionally applied or DIY?

The most effective is by www.glareuk.com , but it costs £500. Some dealer applications require the owner to re-treat the car or wash it in a special way as often as once a month. An alternative is DIY using Autoglym Super Resin Polish and Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection, but since each coat of Extra Gloss takes 2 – 3 hours to cure in winter, and requires a dry atmosphere, the winter weather is against you.
