Motor voters

Probably 99% of drivers would applaud any campaign to have speed humps abolished. Local authorities seem able to build obstructions on public highways with impunity when private individuals or companies would face instant prosecution by doing so. Just because publicly funded speed humps are so prolific does not automatically make them legal. Whatever we think of speed cameras, they do provide a hazard-free alternative. I am surprised that one of the major motoring organisations has not taken a test case before the courts. Perhaps they are concerned about the probability of losing what could be an expensive action. Would you seize the initiative by inviting readers to contribute towards financing learned counsel's opinion on the matter? If so, please put my name on your list now.

The 'major motoring organisations' you refer to no longer represent the motorist, but instead represent the private equity firms and investment banks that own them. The RAC Foundation's most recent recommendation was that motorways be privatised along plans laid by Rothschild's bank. For true representation of the motorist you need to go to www.abd.org.uk
