Probably 99% of drivers would applaud any campaign to have speed humps abolished. Local authorities seem able to build obstructions on public highways with impunity when private individuals or companies would face instant prosecution by doing so. Just because publicly funded speed humps are so prolific does not automatically make them legal. Whatever we think of speed cameras, they do provide a hazard-free alternative. I am surprised that one of the major motoring organisations has not taken a test case before the courts. Perhaps they are concerned about the probability of losing what could be an expensive action.
