Biker grows
My son is 16 and wants a quad bike to go to college and back. I am understandably nervous of this as I am well aware of the risk factor of kids on motorbikes. But I do not wish to pass opinion with my limited knowledge of quad bikes. Can you advise me if quad bikes are statistically any safer?

No I can't. I can tell you that the death rate on motorcycles is 400 - 500 a year and in cars is about 1,300 a year. There are only around 500,000 motorcycles in the UK and around 30,000,000 cars and trucks. So your chances of dying on a motorbike are 1 in 1,000 every year, and your chances of dying in a car are 1 in 23,000 every year.
