My mother-in-law has a Y reg Ford Fiesta 1,600 16v S and she is looking to replace it with something similar but more up to date (not brand new). She has road tested a 2006 of same model and finds it very noisy compared to her Y reg. Is there anything else similar on the market? She particularly likes the responsiveness of her current car. She would be looking for 1-3 year old model (not brand new).

Modern engines are not as 'responsive' due to emissions controls. But get her to try a used Suzuki Swift 1.5. That goes and handles as well as a MINI Cooper: www.honestjohn.co.uk/news/road-tests/suzuki/suzuki...t

Well liked by owners. Chain cam Toyota engines. Decent handling. Fun to drive.
