Dies foolish things?
I have owned a Jaguar S Type from new since October 2003 and am now considering changing to a new XF Premium Luxury 3.0 diesel. I have never thought Diesel before but a salesman tells me that 9 out of 10 XFs that they sell are Diesel. I do 10,000 miles per year. What would your recommendation be regarding petrol/diesel please?

Normally I'd say diesel only if you do 15,000 miles a year or more. But the Jag is a different kind of animal. It will only suffer problems if you do repeated short runs from cold. Balance the short runs with long ones that allow the DPFs to regenerate and you'll be okay. It's a fabulous car. Sportscar and limo in one. Just avoid 20" wheels. 19" absolute maximum. The original 2.7 V6 diesel Premium Luxury was on standard 235/55 R17 tyres.
