Running rings

Formula 1 is always talking about tyre selection and it is difficult to open a motorbike magazine without coming across an article comparing different tyres, but there is nothing similar for cars. Can you recommend anywhere that provides an independent assessment to allow comparison of tyre performance before purchasing them?

There are some tyre sites you can link to from the Useful Websites
Directory at www.honestjohn.co.uk But I don't trust magazine 'tyre tests'. You can only really test a tyre over 20k - 30k miles and none of the tests seem to test them for more than about 100 miles when some won't even be scrubbed in or have bedded in to suit the suspension of the car they are fitted to. My experience tells me: Super grippy: Yokahamas. Relatively low profile, quiet, fuel efficient, long-life: Michelin Pilot Primacy HP. Higher profile, fuel efficient, long life: Michelin Energy or Vivacy. Good, reasonably quiet, rain tyres: Goodyear Hydrajet or Optigrip. Good road tyres for SUVs: Pirelli P Zero Rosso, Continental Cross Contact. Good, fairly quiet, on road/off road tyres for SUVs: Pirelli Scorpion

I have seen a 2016 Honda CTX700 for sale. This bike has 2000 miles and was just traded in, so it is mint condition. Any cons on this?
