You can only really test a tyre over 20k - 30k miles and none of the tests seem to test them for more than about 100 miles when some won't even be scrubbed in or have bedded in to suit the suspension of the car they are fitted to. My experience tells me: Super grippy: Yokahamas. Relatively low profile, quiet, fuel efficient, long-life: Michelin Pilot Primacy HP. Higher profile, fuel efficient, long life: Michelin Energy or Vivacy. Good, reasonably quiet, rain tyres: Goodyear Hydrajet or Optigrip. Good road tyres for SUVs: Pirelli P Zero Rosso, Continental Cross Contact. Good, fairly quiet, on road/off road tyres for SUVs: Pirelli Scorpion
