Raiser edge

I have been offered £14k for my 2005 BMW 525dM Sport Touring auto, mileage 40k, with leather, media pack, etc. against a 2008 Lexus RX400h with 26k miles (yes 26k) at an asking price of £22k, making a cost to switch of £8k. I know you like the RX400h, but does this seem a good deal and should I be worried about the high mileage?

High miles in a short time is very good for a car, not bad. Just as long as it isn't reflected in paint and screen chips. Look carefully for this sort of damage. Yes, not a bad way to go. V8 performance and better than diesel economy for this size of SUV. See the test at www.honestjohn.co.uk Peugeot has adopted a similar type of drivetrain for its hybrid 3008, where the engine drives the front wheels, but a separate regenerative electric motor drives the rears when needed.
