Roving sigh

I read your page in The Telegraph every Saturday and know that you do not favour very low mileage second-hand cars. There is the opportunity to purchase a 2005/55 Rover 75 CDTI Connoisseur SE that has never been serviced. The price is around £8,000 and the mileage is 1,900 miles. It is believed the car has been kept in a garage. I would appreciate your comments on the purchase of such a car at the price quoted.

It was built before April 2005, because that's when all Rover production stopped. It might even have been built in 2004. (Check the seatbelt tags.) There could be engine and turbo damage from oil contaminated by condensation. It will need a new battery. The exhaust system might be rotten fro condensation. The brake discs may have rusted and need replacing. The tyres may have flatspotted. But it's doubtful you will find another 75 2.0CDTI for this money with so few miles under its wheels.
