Waits and measures
With the kind permission of the EU we are allowed to continue to measure distance in miles. Why do certain government departments and the media - including the Motoring Section of the Daily Telegraph ("Motorcycles are currently able to use 107 km of red route bus lanes”, 30th May) use kilometres?

Because the more km is used the more people will get used to it to prepare for when it becomes the standard logical measurement (as in Australia) instead of the archaic mishmash many of us grew up with. Same as the way Centigrade has replaced Fahrenheit for anyone under the age of 60.
