Corsa and effect

I wonder if you could help me with a problem I am having with a Vauxhall Corsa, purchased new in March 2008 for cash. The car broke down on March 26th and was towed by the AA to our local Evans Halshaw at Middlesbrough. Since then they and Vauxhall's technical department have been unable to repair it. No-one keeps me in touch with what is happening. I know the dealership is at the mercy of Vauxhall who are just not interested. Their customer assistance centre should be entitled customer no assistance centre, they just do not return ANY calls at all. On 15th April we were given a courtesy car from Enterprise, but because there was such a high insurance excess to pay we opted for a payment of 38.00/week never thinking for one minute that we would still have the courtesy car. Of course, on 1st March I paid my own annual car insurance on a car that has been at the dealership all this time. Previously to this fault, the wipers flew off in December 08 and my front brakes bind persistently, a fault mentioned on various occasions but never rectified. Am I within my rights to reject this car and ask for a cash payment? Also, I know it was our choice to take out the insurance excess, but I do not even have such a high excess on my own policy and it's sod's law if anything was going to happen it would be with a hire car. It seems very unfair that I am paying my own insurance on a car I don't have, and another on the courtesy car. Can I reclaim this from a very unhelpful Vauxhall? I hope you can help in this matter as I seem to be getting nowhere

Evans Halshaw Vauxhall, Cambridge Road, Cargo Fleet, Middlesbrough is a subscriber to Motor Codes, so you can take your dispute to www.motorcodes.co.uk for conciliation and arbitration if necessary. Motor Codes has to do a proper job or the whole motor trade faces potentially draconian levels of regulation by the OFT.
