Very often I read that you personally own a model of the car under consideration, and it makes me wonder how many cars you own, and what they all are? No doubt, as a dealer, you can probably make use of concessions which would not be available to me. I am sure I am not the only reader who would be fascinated to know. I don't deal in cars any more. Don't have the time. I've got a FIAT 500
and all I got on it were free mats, free keyfobs and a perfume dispenser. FIAT didn't want anyone to get a discount, least of all me, because it wanted to reinforce prices and prevent high depreciation, which it had successfully done until the July deal with BSM. That said, when I bought my car I could put 100% of the cost against a
single year's profit and only pay about £450 BIK tax. I’ve done long term tests of a Ford Focus ECOnetic, Honda CR-V 2.2i CDTI, Peugeot 207 1.6 THP 150, Toyota RAV-4 T180, Ford C-Max 2.0TDCI, Peugeot 307SW 2.0TDCI, Toyota Prius, Toyota Avensis D-4D. Before them I ran a two–year-old auction-bought SEAT Leon 20VT Sport for a year, a 2.0 litre Mondeo, a pair Mk II Golf/Jetta GTIs and a 205GTi. Before that, a 1942 Ford Jeep, a 1949 Rover P3, a Minivan, an Alfa 105 Series GT Junior, a Triumph TR7, a FIAT 127, a Citroen 2CV, several Alfasuds, a pair of Simcas, an Isetta bubblecar, a Riley 1.5 a Renault 8 1100, a SAAB 96, a Nissan Pimera, a Vauxhall Cavalier, numerous FIAT Tipos. And they were just the cars I kept for a bit, not the ones that went through my hands trading.
