Buying a car to use as a taxi. Recommendations?

I'm just going thought the process of becoming a taxi driver so as soon as I am licensed I will need to buy a car.

I'm looking at spending around £3500-£4000 on a car to start with. I have been looking at Mondeos, Vectras and also seven-seaters likes the C8 and 807, all with around 50k-75k miles on the clock.

I was wondering what you would recommend to use as a taxi for that money. I will be using the car part time for about a year just to get myself started, then when I go full time I will probably finance a new one.

There may be a council rule about the age of the vehicle and it may have to have a spare wheel. So make sure you are aware of the council's specific requirements for a car that is to be used as a licensed cab.
