Buying a car with 4WD

I am looking for a four-wheel-drive hatchback. It must have a manual gearbox, a petrol engine, 04/5 seats, max 5 to 8 years old.

I have around £10,000 have looked at the Focus RS. It's a bit small so I am looking for a Mondao size car. I do not want a Chelsea Tractor.

Do you have any suggestions as to which cars I should look for & any to avoid?

The Focus RS isn't 4WD. If looking at cars the choice is basically an Audi A4, a Subaru Impreza, Legacy or Forester, or an Octavia Scout. All 4 cylinder versions are belt cam except for the Subaru diesels. You might get an early Legacy diesel for £10k.
