Deactivated speed cameras
Why do you think that Northamptonshire has suspended speed camera operations? Is it that the roads have become so safe that they are now redundant? I don't think so. They were, from the beginning, an additional tax and as soon as the rules changed and the exchequer took the majority of the income they were ditched.
Proof that with all the claims from the authority that they were a safety measure the only thing that mattered was the income generated.

That's partially right. Happened in Oxfordshire first. Lots of anguished screams from the speed camera partnership who had first been living off the fines income, then off government grants.
