What size winter tyre do I need?
I've bought a '09 ford mondeo 1.8 diesel titanium which I intend to run for at least 6 years, it has 235 45 R 17 summer tyres on. What winter tyres would you recommend?
Also you've recommended steel rims for winter but as you can get alloys for maybe £30 extra each, is that a good idea, or is it definately better to go for steel rims?

Fir 16" wheels with 205/55 R16 tyres. Very common size. Steels are less vulnerable to damage by road salt and grit and, of course, stronger. For comparative tyre test advice go to www.tyrereviews.co.uk
