Insurance stolen and recovered - what next?
My house was broken into and the keys for my Volvo V50 stolen from my office. The car was used three days later in an armed raid and subsequently abandoned on a main road. The cars keys were not recovered by the police nor have the persons responsible been caught.
Can I insist that all keys and locks on the car are changed by the insurance company so that the criminals cannot return to steal the car again?
If there is no apparent damge to the car can I also insist on having the car assesed by a main dealer to determine any undercar, tyre or suspension damage to the vehicle at the insurance companys expense?
If there is no damage to the car and just the keys and locks have to be changed, how will the resale price of the car be affected by the tag 'Stolen Recovered' on the HPI file? If it is, can I ask the insurance company for compensation to put me back in the financial position I was prior to the theft?
