Buying a model on run-out

I'm considering purchasing a used S40 but understand they are to be discontinued in 2012.

Are there any pitfalls to buying a model run out in terms of parts, service, repairs and resale please?

It's an old model now, dating back to 2003. Still quite a nice car, Focus based. Mix of Ford, Mazda and Volvo parts. 4 cylinder diesels all Ford/PSA. 5 cylinder diesels Volvo.
