Insurance claim against a cyclist

Last week my car was hit by a cyclist. I have got some quotes from local garages for the repairs, but I was just wondering whether it would make sense to get my insurance company involved. As you would expect the cyclist has no form of cycling insurance so am not sure if my insurer would be able to make a claim against him or not.

If you tell your insurer there will be a claim against your policy that you will pay for in increased premiums for years to come.
