We have a 2006/56 Nissan X-Trail. Due to the weather last winter I am considering obtaining a set of winter tyres to suit the vehicle. Should I purchase a set of steel or aluminum rims? Then the tyres to suit which rims I obtain.

In Germany and Austria most drivers switch to smaller steel rims and fit deeper profile tyres than they use in the summer. Here are three suppliers of rims with winter tyres pre-fitted. www.mytyres.co.uk , www.Wheel-Base.co.uk , www.rarerims.co.uk Remember, if you fit steel wheels you will probably need different, shouldered wheel bolts. And you must disclose the change to your insurer.
