You may be interested to see this unusual exhaust found on a Renault in Morocco.

Exhaustive research suggests to me an engine transplant. Probably a single cylinder 400cc Kubota diesel or similar, qualifying the Renault as a farm vehicle, which is how a lot of old vans and pick-ups end their lives.
