Can I suggest your readers reply to parking enforcement companies citing the defence in the case of Arkell v Pressdram?
My brother-in-law had an alleged fine imposed by Lidl when shopping there. He has shown me your Telegraph column of 30 April. As a CAB supervisor I have always found it effective to write back to these people citing the defence in the case of Arkell v Pressdram. It invariably works. How honest can one get?

Unfortunately, "F**k off" is not suitable language for The Daily Telegraph, even from the keyboard of a former car trader. (In response to a letter, in April 1971, from solicitors representing Arkell alleging libel, Private Eye responded with the words, “F**k off”.)
