Thanks for presenting your true mpg figure database, and don't blame the manufacturers for trying.

Congratulations on launching a table to reflect true average fuel consumption figures (www.honestjohn.co.uk/realmpg). You cannot really blame the manufacturers. They know that in many vehicle classes, fuel consumption is a very important sales factor. Therefore they are obviously mapping their engine management to achieve optimal figures in the conditions prevailing in EC testing. This is possibly even at the cost of economy in other conditions.

No, I don't blame the manufacturers at all. In fact I congratulated Fiat in beating the flawed system with its TwinAir by awarding it 'The Most Brilliant Rulebender' in the Honest John Awards.
