It tolls for thee
On a recent touring holiday in the Scotland we were unfortunate to blow a head gasket whilst on the Isle of Mull. As members of the RAC (including recovery) we thought we were fully covered. Err no. RAC does not cover ferries or tolls so the cost for a 45 min crossing to the mainland was just less than £300 (commercial transporter). Apparently AA and Green Flag do cover ferries so I know where my business will be going next renewal.

Useful warning. Except that most of the time only the RAC and the AA can fix a car by the side of the road. The rest of them merely tow or transport the car to a garage where you pay to have it fixed. The AA does not cover recovery after a crash, and even punctures from running over debris are considered crash damage.
