Is there a fun, environmentally friendly car that I can replace my Mazda MX3 with?

I sadly have to bid farewell to my 14-year-old Mazda MX3 due to age (suffers from wear and tear, like us) and road tax cost. I want a ‘green’ car. I have researched electric, but although I usually operate within a 10-mile radius of home, I occasionally need to travel further afield. Most cars look terribly the same and I would like one with a definite fun personality. Any ideas?

Honda CR-Z: www.honestjohn.co.uk/road-tests/honda/honda-cr-z// . It's the same sort of car as your MX-3, but a hybrid, and fun to drive.
