Thanks to one of your reader's letter in last Saturday's column, I checked the wording on my insurance coverage, which actually did not include travel between home and work. I immediately phoned my insurers, Admiral, and asked about this.

They charged me £28 for the pleasure of adding a few words to my policy so that my daily commute would be covered, even though my annual mileage would not have been affected.

As a doctor who has to travel daily to visit my patients and attend various meetings, I felt insurance coverage was too important to neglect, and in my short lunch break of 15 minutes, I decided against arguing with the person from Admiral.

Discussing this with my colleagues at the end of our shift, they unanimously felt that the Insurers were "daylight robbers" and would be wary about insurers such as this. I hope you would weigh in on this issue, which I believe affects more people than we think.

Admiral has a good reputation of being very fair and £28 is fair. The company is not responsible for the non-disclosure of travelling to and from work. You are.
