Spares counter

My wife bought an Audi A1 in May 2011. We are well into our retirement ages and after reading in the manual the complicated procedure of dealing with a puncture with this jollop that one fills the tyre with in order to get you home I decided that we would be better served by having a spare wheel in the boot. I contacted Colborne's of Guildford who supplied the car, which is fitted with 15-inch alloy wheels as standard.

The very helpful young man in the spares dept. said I would probably need a temporary high-pressure wheel and tyre but on checking he advised that Audi only had 16-inch wheels and did not have 15 inch at all. I then asked if he could supply a 15 inch steel wheel and tyre he said yes but was uncertain whether it would fit in the well of the boot where the spare wheel goes.

I sent an email to customer services at Audi requesting information to this latter suggestion last Monday morning and, as I had no response, I sent another on Tuesday morning requesting the courtesy of a reply to my previous email.

So far I have heard nothing from Audi and I think their Customer Services is a figment of someone's imagination or that they just are not interested in 'after sales' service. Can you offer any advice?

The Audi A1 is basically a Polo underneath and most Polos (apart from the 99g/km Bluemotion) come with a standard size spare. So if your Audi dealer cannot supply one, your VW dealer can.
