Happy returns
May I celebrate my Polo 1.9D's tenth birthday by reporting 57,773 miles on 892 gallons, or 64.7 mpg, mainly on short journeys, travelling as fast as is legal or safe? There is a consistent 6mpg difference between summer peak and winter low.

I get that too with my FIAT 500 1.2 petrol. 55-56 in the summer. 48-49 in the winter. You are doing almost as well as our real life fuel economy register average for a new VW Polo 1.2 Bluemotion, which shows 66.5mpg. (www.honestjohn.co.uk/realmpg)
