Manguler gearbox

In your reply to WS on 8/10, you warn of the need to be careful with automated manual gearboxes but do not specify the problems. I intend to replace my 2010 Astra auto with a Yaris auto/manual next year, based on the economy and reliability over 30,000 miles I experienced with my 2005 Astra Easytronic (up to 50mpg). I understood that Toyota has a good record of reliability in all respects. Is that incorrect?

The Yaris M/M automated manual has had its fair share of problems, which is why Toyota has switched to its Multidrive S CVT automatic, as tested here in the new Verso S, which is the mini MPV of the new Yaris: www.honestjohn.co.uk/road-tests/toyota/toyota-vers.../
