vw touareg 2.5 air con pump fail.

Have you any idea what the life of this item should be. how do i get some good will from vw and what should the cost be.

It it the pump, or is it merely the electromagnetic clutch to the pump? If the latter, a good a/c specialist will merely replace the clutch at about 25% of the price of a new pump.
