Gap insurance for a sports car

My son is leasing quite an expensive sports car for 12 months. Should he consider what I believe is called Gap Insurance in the event of a serious accident or write off, bearing in mind he doesn't actually own the car?

If so, where should he go to obtain such cover?

Good idea, burt best bought via a broker rather than a car dealer because they charge less commission.
