Limited insurance for a young driver

Am seeking insurance for son aged 17.5, one month qualified. Cheapest quote on confused.com was £3,500 (Admiral - way too much). Have heard you can get limited day insurance (max 180 days p/a) which is cheaper and perfect for us as son won't drive in term time. Do you know who provides it?
