Petrol or diesel?

I drive about 10000 miles a year. Is it worth getting a diesel and I mean a 10 year old diesel, or stick to petrol? I've been offered a nice MG ZS + 1.8 with low mileage.

10 year old diesels are generally less expensive to run than 3 - 6 year old diesels because there is less to go wrong.
