Garage wants extra cash for a car we part exchanged.

We recently part exchanged our car with £500 for a car at a garage. The deal had been done but two days later they have phoned up wanting an extra £500 saying our old car had been an insurance write off a CAT D. We had no idea it was, where do we stand?

They can't have it. They did the deal. They made the mistake. Down to them.
