Recommendations for a small MPV?

I currently have a Daihatsu Materia which is a great car but I'm due to change it for a new car. What would you recommend? I'm after something funky looking with great space that drives like a small car and has bags of room with a large flat boot. I'd like something more economical but with the same character.
