Buying a new small car?

I have currently a Smart Passion Diesel which is just under 1 year old. So far I have been delighted with the car but my driving mileage is going to dramatically change. Currently I am driving approx 1,000 per month but with a change in location for my work this will increase to approx 2,000 per month. Do you think that my Smart will be the best small car for the job? If not, what would you suggest - I am happy with either 2 or 4 seats as it will mostly carry just myself and partner
