BMW X1 Efficient Dynamics fuel consumption
I have a BMW X1 2.0 diesel manual efficient dynamics model I have recently bought from a dealer. The official combined fuel consumption figure is 62.8 combined. I am driving it really carefully and changing gears when indicated but only getting 45mpg. This seems some way off the official figure - should I take it to the dealer?
Whilst I would not expect to get the official figure I thought it would be nearer 55mpg.

www.honestjohn.co.uk/RealMpg/Results?manufacturer=...w shows real life figures for X1 2.0 litre diesel manuals of between 43.4mpg and 46.1mpg so your mpg is entirely normal. The 'official' EEDC figures bear no relation to what drivers will achieve in real life. Their purpose is to assess the CO2 output of the engine for taxation.
