engine noise

I am getting a noise from the engine, sounds like a belt making noise. I took it to a garage and they said a bearing has gone on the water pump and would cost 200 pounds to fix. Is this a known problem with this modle?

That's possible. If it's the 3 cylinder engine also used in the Aygo and C1 it's very common.
