Gear stick doesn't spring back to neutral
The gear stick on my 2004 Seat Leon no longer springs back to the neutral setting when pushed/pulled out of gear; it has lost all elasticity so that you have to fully guide it into a gear.
So, going from second to third means you cannot rely on the stick pinging back to the centre and then pushing it into third; you actually have to 'find' third yourself as it is no longer obvious.
1) Does this mean an expensive repair?
2) where should I go to get it done in Warwickshire/west midlands?

Just means you have lost a spring in the lever selector gate. Have a look in the Good Garage Guide for local garages.
