Citroen C3 with a whining clutch

I have a Citroen C3, 1.4, 02 plate. The problem with my car is the clutch but I'm not sure exactly what the exact problem is. Originally the clutch pedal was juddering, down & up & then it dissappeared. It then re-appeared! Its now progressed onto making a whining noise when the car starts up & is put into all gears. Clutch release bearing has been suggested, if this is the problem, does this also mean a new clutch? Trying to prepare myself for the worst! Thanks.

Yes, probably the clutch release bearing. Yes, probably cannot get at it without removing the gearbox and thenm you might as well fit a new clutch. Try Mr Clutch. Usually cheapest.
