Downsizing from a C-Class

At present I own a 1998 C240 Mercedes-Benz but it is now costing a little too much to keep on the road. I may be on my fourth airflow mass meter (depending on what garage says) within the 5 years I've owned the car.

Time for something smaller but the car must be automatic, have a chain-cam and boot big enough for tenpin bowling paraphernalia. Budget around £3,000 so used car obviously.
