Winter wheels and tyres for my new Boxster

I'll shortly be taking delivery of a new Porsche Boxster, just as it's time to start thinking about winter tyres (which I've never had before). I can buy a set of Michelin Pilot Alpin for the existing 19" rims for around £1200 when they come into stock, and note that Porsche use these tyres in their winter testing. However for around twice that I can get a 'package' of a complete set of identical rims with the Michelin tyres too. Having the complete wheels changed twice a year rather than all the tyres will be cheaper (or free if I do it myself), which will chip away at the initial extra cost over time.

Is there an advantage to having the complete wheel set and so reduce the amound of handling and fitting on the tyres over time? Or anything else I should consider?

Also, in response to AR of Swindon's query about the Ferrari dealer using regular unleaded petrol (22nd September), I asked the Porsche dealer about this when I had a demo car on loan. Although it reduces power, they fill all their demo cars with regular unleaded so that they can't be seen to mislead by using 'special' petrol to sell the cars. I sort-of see the logic, but only just, and look forward to even better performance when mine arrives and I fill it with the right stuff!

That's what I do. I keep a complete set of wheels and tyres in a lock-up, so I can swap them over whenever I want. In response to what the Porsche salesman told you, I've heard of excuses but that is one of the most laughable. I would not but a used car from him.
