What defines a winter tyre?
I've bought myself a spare set of alloys and have ordered some winter tyres from my local garage. They will be fitting Kleber Quadraxer's next week. I have let my insurance company (Direct Line) know that I'm fitting different alloys with winter tyres. They won't be charging me any extra (or less) but will need to send me a new policy document.
Having checked out these tyres on the internet, they have the mountain/snowflake symbol but also have 'all season' written on them. My question is what defines a tyre as a 'winter tyre' and should I have told my insurance company that I've fitted 'all season' tyres?

The Kleber Quadtraxer is an 'All Season' tyre. See Auto Bild comparative test here: www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Article/2011-Auto-Bild-All-S...m
