Sold a £500 car privately only a week ago has developed a locking fault, should I refund?
I sold a 12-year-old Volvo V40 with 121k for £500 privately in good working order as far as I was aware, with one or two minor faults which I knew about, and I pointed out to the local purchaser. Unfortunately a week later purchaser contacted me to say that he got locked out of car when he left the key in the ignition, did I realise there was a problem? I replied absolutely not, this had never happened to me in my short few months ownership?
What are my rights, should I offer a refund if they take this further, as the purchaser mentioned going to a local dealership to check out? I sold the car in good faith, and said it was going OK at the time of sale which it was.
