Vibration through the steering wheel on my BMW - what's the cause?

I was getting a lot of vibration through the steering wheel, while motorway driving, but not round town; I had the tracking checked and the wheels balanced, no change, so I had the front discs skimmed, this time maybe a small improvement, but not much. It only seems to happen after I have been on the road for a while and after I have braked a few times. Have you got any ideas?

Front suspension bushes. Notorious for them.
