Trading down to a smaller car - what can e get for our Subaru?

We have owned a Subaru Forester X 2.0 since new from 2003. It now has 106,000 miles on the clock. It has become too expensive to run and we want to trade down to a smaller car which will only be used for a daily commute of 24 miles through country lanes. What could we expect to get for the Forester if sold privately and what suitable car could we buy from the proceeds?

About £1,750. Doesn't buy much. But you might find a reasonable Toyota Yaris, which is the best small car of this sort of age.
