Pothole damage - personal details request
In August I had the misfortune to damage an alloy wheel, tyre and tracking geometry when I accidentally ran into one of Sheffields notorious 'pot holes' in the highway. I have completed the claim forms sent by the organisation, which apparently is set up within the local authority under the name of Amey.
However they have now demanded that I forward my driving licence, insurance details, MoT certificate, proof of ownership, and service records before they will process the claim. Surely these details can be found on the DVLA database - but more to the point, as far as I am aware, they have no legal authority to demand these documents, as they have no bearing whatsoever on my claim against their defective road.

If you don't want the claim to be processed then don't send them. If you do want it to be processed, send them.
